The West Midlands Clinical Senate have been commissioned by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System (ICS) with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust (HWHCT) to conduct a review of the adult mental health redesign of rehabilitation services in the community trust to ensure that it aligns with national and local strategies and meets the standards of the NHS England Major Change Process.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate have been commissioned by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB to conduct a review of the clinical model and the proposal to make permanent the temporary closure of the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Cannock Chase Hospital previously provided by The Royal Wolverhampton Trust (RWT), which aligns with national and local strategies for both urgent and emergency care and neighbourhood health.
The Clinical Senate was commissioned to review the proposed changes to the Stroke Rehabilitation pathways across Walsall and Wolverhampton and provide a clinical opinion on the view that implementation will lead to improved patient outcomes for the populations of Wolverhampton and Walsall by proposing to transform the post-acute stroke rehabilitation pathways across Wolverhampton and Walsall to a model that increases the rehabilitation of patients in their home environment and reduces the inpatient rehabilitation provision.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was jointly commissioned by Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust and the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust to undertake a clinical review of the clinical model in place for the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit based at Rowley Regis Hospital. The Clinical Senate was asked to particularly consider the implications of combining the existing 12 Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation beds at the Rowley Regis Hospital site with the newly established pathway for Dudley Stroke Rehabilitation at Rowley Regis Hospital (11 beds).
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was commissioned by Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB) to undertake a clinical review of proposed options for a redesign of the model of delivery for Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and its relative and relevant interdependencies.

The Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board commissioned the Clinical Senate to provide assurance that all viable options concerning the provision of community rehabilitation beds in South Warwickshire, had been thoroughly explored. These options will serve as the foundation for any subsequent public consultation regarding the future of community rehabilitation bed provision.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was commissioned by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (SSOT ICB) on behalf of the Integrated Care System (ICS) including University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) and University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) to undertake a clinical review of intrapartum maternity services based at County Hospital, Stafford and Samuel Johnson community Hospital, Lichfield. The ICB is the body with a statutory duty for patient and public involvement and commissioning of services.
The Clinical Senate were proactively approached to review the historical legacy arrangements in place for the stroke services pathway (end to end) with the aim to highlight areas of focus and opportunities that will ensure the delivery of clinically sustainable, high quality, end to end NHS stroke services for the next five to ten years, that are accessible to Birmingham and Solihull ICS (old STP boundary plus new West Birmingham Locality) residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Clinical Senate was engaged by Black Country Integrated Care Board to undertake a clinical review of the proposed reconfiguration of the Urology Services between The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The proposal looked to reorganise emergency and elective care across the two sites and provide a more robust clinical operating model.
