Recruitment to the West Midlands Clinical Senate Assembly is ongoing with an open invitation to health and care professionals from all disciplines to apply for membership of the Assembly.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was established to support commissioners to make the best decisions about healthcare for the populations they represent. Since the introduction of Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), the Clinical Senate has made engagement across our systems a top priority in our Work Programme.
The Clinical Senate Assembly is a diverse, multi-professional membership forum, providing a clinical resource and access to experts from the full range of health and care professions. Clinical Senate Assembly members will be invited to participate in issues of strategic importance to improve healthcare in the West Midlands and formulate independent clinical advice. Members will work in multi-professional groups to provide their expert knowledge and opinion – clinical reviews could be virtual (desk top review) or a physical meeting based in one of our ICS Footprints in the West Midlands.
Senate Assembly membership will be for a minimum of two years. Your time commitment is flexible and will depend on membership of the working groups. There is likely to be an annual Assembly event to support professional development, and which promotes the role of the Clinical Senate.
Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic and passionate health and social care professionals from all disciplines who are actively involved in healthcare delivery, and are able to command the respect of clinical and non-clinical professionals.

The whole process including the organisation, the joint meetings, the carrying out of the actual review and the final report were all impressively efficient and the good work in this area was recognised.
The overall experience was excellent. The panel had the correct expertise, both clinically and managerially. The report was timely, high quality and a faithful reflection. We felt that the report had been sensitively written.
Whilst most of the recommendations were work in progress within the programme, the independent clinical opinion on the options was invaluable in supporting our evidence base.
We were impressed by the level of commitment to the review shown by the senate with the significant range of expertise participating in the review.
Couldn’t speak highly enough of the service.
The opportunity to share our project aims and objectives with a team of impartial clinicians was invaluable and has provided an independent assessment of the appropriateness of our plans.
