The West Midlands Clinical Senate have been commissioned by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System (ICS) with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust (HWHCT) to conduct a review of the adult mental health redesign of rehabilitation services in the community trust to ensure that it aligns with national and local strategies and meets the standards of the NHS England Major Change Process.
The East Midlands Clinical Senate considered the case for the National Rehabilitation Centre in 2019 and 2020. The Senate supported the opportunity initially set out in the business case for the provision based on patients with high rehabilitation potential. All parties are requesting further assessment of the suitability of the site for a wider cohort of patients including those aligned to national specifications within the prescribed services manual.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate have been commissioned by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB to conduct a review of the clinical model and the proposal to make permanent the temporary closure of the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Cannock Chase Hospital previously provided by The Royal Wolverhampton Trust (RWT), which aligns with national and local strategies for both urgent and emergency care and neighbourhood health.
The concept of “Lifestyle Medicine” is becoming more mainstream in both the realms of physical and mental health; should healthcare systems invest in this and if so, how is best to do it? A lot of literature exists discussing this topic. This project aimed to pull these threads together and conducts an evaluation of the topic to understand how best to progress it and channel resources effectively. The Clinical Senate was commissioned to review the proposed changes to the Stroke Rehabilitation pathways across Walsall and Wolverhampton and provide a clinical opinion on the view that implementation will lead to improved patient outcomes for the populations of Wolverhampton and Walsall by proposing to transform the post-acute stroke rehabilitation pathways across Wolverhampton and Walsall to a model that increases the rehabilitation of patients in their home environment and reduces the inpatient rehabilitation provision.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was jointly commissioned by Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust and the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust to undertake a clinical review of the clinical model in place for the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit based at Rowley Regis Hospital. The Clinical Senate was asked to particularly consider the implications of combining the existing 12 Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation beds at the Rowley Regis Hospital site with the newly established pathway for Dudley Stroke Rehabilitation at Rowley Regis Hospital (11 beds).
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was commissioned by Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB) to undertake a clinical review of proposed options for a redesign of the model of delivery for Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and its relative and relevant interdependencies.
This project presents an independent review of the evidence base for robotic assisted surgery and an analysis of the robotic surgery currently conducted in facilities across the Midlands. Its purpose is to support the robust and planned introduction and expansions of robotic surgery in an appropriate an equitable manner at the surgical procedural level through the evaluation of the evidence base for defined indications.
The West Midlands Clinical Senate was commissioned by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to undertake a clinical review of their proposed new model of delivery for the Hyper Acute Stoke Unit (HASU) and the Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and its relative and relevant interdependencies.
This project aimed to review the concept of risk in systems (actual and perceived), who owns risks and at what levels, the impact it has on service delivery and how this could be reimagined from a system perspective instead of organisational perspective to improve patient flow and experience.
